Dr. John J. Caravolas, D.D.S.
“Dr. John” has been practicing pediatric dentistry since 1982. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he graduated with a B.S. in Psychology. He then went on to receive his D.D.S. from Georgetown University where he developed an interest in pediatrics. He decided to pursue pediatrics, and completed a pediatric dental residency program at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he served as chief resident during his second year.
Dr. John has devoted his practice to the care of infants, children and adolescents. Helping children develop life-long healthy smiles in a fun-filled environment has been the goal. “Treating kids and not just teeth” has been his motto. This model of treatment has been a success. Most of Dr. John’s patients continue to return to the practice as adults, and many are even bringing their own children!
Dr. Dara Cunnion, D.M.D.
Dr. Cunnion is a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a board certified pediatric dentist. She has been practicing with Dr. Caravolas since 2005 and has been a welcome addition to the busy practice, as she is friendly, warm, and loves working with children. She then continued on at Boston University in their post-doctoral pediatric dentistry residency program. She teaches full-time as an Assistant Professor and is Director of the Pre-Doctoral Pediatric Dentistry program at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Cunnion has just published her first paper in the Journal of Dentistry for Children.
Dr. Chris Karavolas, D.D.S.
“Dr. Chris” joined his cousin John in 1994, making the practice a true “family practice”. Dr. Chris is originally from Madison Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin and received a B.S. in mathematics. He studied Dentistry at the University of Minnesota where he received his D.D.S. He furthered his studies by completing a general practice residency at Illiniois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Chris has devoted his practice to the care and treatment of adults—young and old alike. He wants his patients to feel comfortable in the office, and continually strives to foster an open, communicative environment. Many of Dr. John’s adolescent patients have transitioned into Dr. Chris’ practice, and along the way, their mothers and fathers have joined too!
Dr. Carolyn Lucey, D.M.D., M.D.S.
Carolyn joined Karavolas & Caravolas Family Dentistry in 2008. She graduated cum laude from UMass Amherst with a B.S. in biology. She later went on to receive her D.M.D. from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated magna cum laude. During her third year of dental school, Carolyn became interested in orthodontics and decided to pursue a career as an orthodontic specialist. At the University of Connecticut Health Center Carolyn received her certificate in orthodontics as well as a Master’s degree in dental science.
Carolyn strives to create a warm and friendly environment for her patients. Although she treats primarily children and adolescents, she also treats adults, and is more than happy to work with anybody who is interested in pursuing orthodontic treatment. Carolyn and the staff work hard to keep parents informed of their children’s treatment as it progresses, and is always willing to discuss any questions or concerns patients or parents may have.
